"Bringing Heart to the Art of Healing"

About Hayley...

I've happily spent over 25 years providing therapeutic, educational and training services in a variety of professional settings.  In addition to offering integrative healing approaches as an integrative medicine practitioner and a speech-language pathologist in acute, sub-acute and long-term healthcare facilities, hospice and palliative care, private practice, counseling programs, community centers, and in clients' homes, I have an extensive background working with individuals along the continuum of life...from birth to end-of-life care. Other clientele include those seeking relaxation and self-healing resources, personal and professional instruction, community outreach and education, as well as folks presenting with a multitude of medical, emotional, cognitive and general life changes and challenges.

As an Animal Reiki Practitioner, my clients have included dogs, cats, birds, a hedgehog, and horses, plus their humans, of course.  I typically see my 4-legged homies in their own home-ies,  while staying in temporary lodging, or wherever is most comfortable for them and their families. As the most recent addition to our home, my hairy adoptee (Karl the dog) not only receives Reiki regularly, but also reminds me on a daily basis that we are each individual personalities whose "leggedness" does not define us as family. Along with the many human clients I've had the pleasure to know, they've also taught me that a little healing goes a long way: my sweet Nicki stuck around until her 16th birthday post-diagnosis for an aggressive and terminal form of kitty breast cancer. Six extra years of sassy, snuggly, "I think I'm either a human or a dog but WAY more alpha than either" Nicki-ness filled my family's life with immeasurable joy.

I also earn my keep as a speech-language pathologist (SLP) in some very interesting settings. Providing corporate and academic communication and cultural training with non-native speakers of American English, cognitive therapy and work/school re-integration for individuals following concussion and traumatic brain injury, and assisting those identified with executive function challenges and sensory integration dysfunction, have all greatly impacted my work in the field of Integrative Medicine. The reverse is the case as well: it's a definite bonus to be able to assist clients in learning to respect, accept and love who they are, gain confidence in their abilities, find their literal and metaphorical voice and gather joy from sharing their own stories with others. I strongly believe that my IM training has made me a better SLP, and my SLP background has helped me become a more effective integrative therapy professional.  In any case, I maintain national certification with the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and I am licensed in the the state of New Jersey. Thank goodness, too -- the opportunity to work with some pretty cool and amazing private clients in a variety of settings makes me a happy worker bee.

As if that weren't enough, I am the luckiest mom of an AMAZING teenage son who happens to have  Asperger's Syndrome/High Functioning Autism.  Advocating for, writing about, and informing the  public regarding the effects of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD's) on family dynamics, educational  services, and medical treatment is one of my passions.  As a matter of fact, Matthew and I were recently interviewed for a documentary about the benefits of art therapies as a developmental tool for individuals diagnosed along the Autism Spectrum.

My Integrative Medicine certification falls into  three categories.  As a trained Neurofeedback provider, I provide neuromodulation assessment and treatment services for private practice employers. Not to be too cryptic, but if you'd like more information about this  modality, please contact me directly and I'll be happy to connect you with the connectors who'll connect us...so to speak.

The metaphysical focus of my energy therapy experience includes being a Reiki Master/Trainer (RM/T) with the International Association of Reiki Professionals (IARP) and The International Center for Reiki Training; a nationally trained Jin Shin Jyutsu (JSJ) practitioner; an Integrative Energy Therapist (IET); and a Guided Imagery Therapist. Other instruction includes Kabbalah and related healing approaches, Therapeutic Touch, QiGong, Impact Reflexology, and Journaling  as a Therapeutic Tool.

In addition, I am formally trained in Animal Reiki in addition to veterinary assistance and animal behavior.

I am a woman of many hats...

Other than my BA in Psychology (Brandeis University) and MA in Communication Disorders (University of Pittsburgh School of Health & Rehabilitation Sciences), my primary continuing education efforts are focused on holistic and multicultural approaches to wellness and healing; counseling as a practical and necessary facet of professional practice; cognitive issues; executive function skills; expressive speech and language; multicultural interpersonal communication styles; Autism Spectrum Disorders; organized and cohesive writing; and journaling therapies.

Professional memberships include the Natural Healing Alliance, Hands-on Trade Association, International Association of Reiki Professionals (IARP) and its Reiki-in-Hospitals program, International Society for Complementary Medicine Research, the Asperger's Education Network (ASPEN), and the New Jersey Speech-Language-Hearing Association (NJSHA).

...and despite even the most unpopular belief, I am NOT Wonder Woman -- although the dress kinda rocks!

As an educator, healthcare provider and an integrative energy practitioner,  I have a  strong interest in and respect for the symbiotic relationship  between allopathic and  integrative approaches for maintaining wellness --  be it within our own bodies or between ourselves and the world around us.  It is possible -- and highly probable! -- that you can find a gentler way to be  comfortable in your own skin, find your voice and interact positively in and  with the world.

Together we can create a program that supports your medical, therapeutic or professional plans  and meets your personal needs and interests.  If you like, you can learn Reiki for self-care or as a tool to share with others, in addition to a variety of relaxation and calming approaches to implement when you need them ASAP. General wellness classes, discussion groups, presentations and workshops are also options, with easy and appropriate adaptation to your specific audience  (see Talk Topics for more information).

Whatever your goals and intentions, I welcome any questions or inquiries you may have, and I look forward to supporting you on your healing journey.  Bon Voyage!
